Blind Walks

Blind Walks

Some of you might know that my eyesight is -8, I wrote about it before.

I’ve been conditioned by the society to wear glasses and contacts since childhood. I grew up in the Polar Night region, where it is dark for many months in winter.

I was in school, where I was supposed to have some optics to be able to see the board and of course, by increasing the diopter instead of doing the eye gymnastics, I myself made it even worse.

A couple of years ago I started exploring this topic, what I can do without optics, I started giving it more attention.

It is a question of safety, if you are safe in your own environment (house/room) you can allow yourself more without that vision. You don’t actually bump into the objects, you allow yourself to activate inner navigation.

About half a year ago I tried a blind walk for the first time.

You know, I have two dogs, I decided to go for a walk with them without glasses/contacts. I felt that I need to add being barefoot to that experience.

My concern was snakes, what if I see a snake and don’t notice it. I calmed myself down with a thought that I am gonna be with the puppies who are always alert to that. In fact Bali dogs have a special snake alert built in in their system.

It was interesting. I was making small cautious steps, I was connecting with the land, I was walking slowly. After that I tried it again. Next time I met a snake, my dogs couldn’t care less, as they were far in front and the snake crossed my path and jumped into the river.

From that time I decided to start doing it more or less regularly. Not every day, sometimes I am too lazy to go to a walk in the morning and choose to do yoga or stretching or dancing and meditation instead, but for sure I try to spend several hours without any optics.

What I noticed is that I see much more without glasses. I see energy, I am more connected with the ground. Recently my Earth Star Chakra (the one under the feet in the ground) got activated and I feel a very strong connection with the land, I feel it’s supportive and nurturing touch. Someone told me, ok you go on a blind walk, but don’t do it barefoot, as you might step on a spike or a piece of glass, but to be honest, I am absolutely not scared of that. You move more slowly, you are very present in every step, you breathe and have a very special dance with the land while you are blind and barefoot.

I only do that in the morning, as this is the time there are not so many people and vehicles you “have to interact with”. The thing is it is annoying to explain to people you meet, why you do not notice them, I simply do not see their faces, only energies, but I don’t want to be rude of course. I think I walk around with a blissful foolish smile.

I was also told about Saganga recently and the local Bali analogue - Bintang flower, the flower that activates inner vision (Third eye) and helps with the eyesight. I was experimenting with that as well as Plasma water to seal up this results. It’s been a beautiful exploration.

And the last thing here: A few months ago, I purchased contact lenses half diopter less (not -6,5, but -6) for the daily usage. In the beginning it was unusual, especially in the evening and when I go out of the house, meaning when I drive or in a public place, as the mind has this fixation on the idea that I have to see the faces of the distant people and the details of everything I see around. Although this is not necessary the case. Do you actually need to see the facial expressions of those who you do not know on the other table in a restaurant.

Although when I started this practice with blind walks and new contacts I noticed that my close vision has shifted, I no longer focus on the far anymore, but I also look at what is close to me, what is around me. And it was amusing. So many new things got exposed to me: beautiful flowers, leaves, petals, dew drops.

I am still learning, this journey has just began. Sometimes I have a resistance about going outside on a blind walk, I am gentle with myself.

But to be honest I am very proud of my results so far, as I understand that the more I practice the better I get. And it is the matter of trusting your own senses and claiming your power back.

With Love,
